The hero, uneasy, uncomfortable or unaware, is introduced sympathetically so the audience can identify with the situation or dilemma. The hero is shown against a background of environment, heredity, and personal history. Some kind of polarity in the hero’s life is pulling in different directions and causing stress.
Just a normal guy with a love for science fiction, fantasy, games, books, etc. Normal delivery job, working long hours and doing the 'same old routine' day in and day out. Normal family, wife and two kids that love him and share in his interests for the most part. Bills, life and normal every day stresses creep up on him, he second guesses his life and wonders if it is a mid-life crisis or just a deep sense of wanderlust trying to pull at him to just escape "life."
