Near the middle of the story, the hero enters a central space in the Special World and confronts death or faces his or her greatest fear. Out of the moment of death comes a new life.
Spiders, death and the task of beating insurmountable odds in order to return home. This may include a sacrifice of a party member in order for our hero to return home. This decision will be placed in front of the party and the rest of the time that party member and the hero will have to work out the details for the best outcome. Perhaps Blackbirch or Aria will have to make the sacrifice for him?

APPROACH
The hero and newfound allies prepare for the major challenge in the Special world.
I believe each ally has their own motivations. These motivations may or may not always coincide with one another. In fact, there may be times where the viewpoint of the party may be in direct conflict with one of the other members. These conflicts and motivations will be though up at a later time.

Blackbirch, the charismatic duelist
Xandarr, the gentle giant cleric
Aria, the cat-girl (Race and character based on my daughter)

ENEMIES:
Unknown as of yet, however with the spider being the cause of the accident I may use it as the main villain, or perhaps a plot twist as the only hing to travel between worlds to bring our hero to this world.

CROSSING THE THRESHOLD
At the end of Act One, the hero commits to leaving the Ordinary World and entering a new region or condition with unfamiliar rules and values.
UNDEFINED TERRITORY THUS FAR
Our hero needs to get home
Assumes control of his situation and decides in this world it is best to follow the rules of this world

MEETING WITH THE MENTOR
The hero comes across a seasoned traveler of the worlds who gives him or her training, equipment, or advice that will help on the journey. Or the hero reaches within to a source of courage and wisdom.
(ARTWORK BY KEN ROLSTON)
Reddcap - Similar to "Dungeon Master" from the old Dungeons and Dragons cartoon show. He will pop up randomly and disappear just as fast. While seen he walks around and his shoes squeak, like sweaty feet in rubber shoes. His shoes are like Mario Batali orange crocs that are too big for his feet so he has them strapped to his feet with duct tape.
He won't be as 'cryptic' as Dungeon Master, however he will often be aloof and dismissive at times similar to the Cheshire Cat, often focusing on his own motives that may run congruent to our hero.

REFUSAL OF THE CALL
The hero feels the fear of the unknown and tries to turn away from the adventure, however briefly. Alternately, another character may express the uncertainty and danger ahead.
Waking up in this strange new world it is uncertain as to how to get home. He wants to get home to his family. This is not his world, his life, or where he wants to be.

THE CALL TO ADVENTURE
Something shakes up the situation, either from external pressures or from something rising up from deep within, so the hero must face the beginnings of change.
Working the mundane job the main character has time to think, often too much time and his mind wanders. With the loss of a friend recently he is left with thoughts of missing the friend, wondering about the friends he does have and how they compare to friends he used to have in his younger years, and the realities of life in general. His social circle has closed to his family and a few people he would actually truly call his "friends." Recently, these thoughts have him contemplate life and where he is in his life, is he happy, is life worth changing, etc.
While in a stage of mind-wandering as he was driving from one stop to another he doesn't recognize the spider that had lowered itself down from the top of the cab of the truck and onto his arm. His fear of spiders and the initial shock of the spider on his arm makes him jump and lose control of the truck and sends it careening off the road.
When the hero awakens he finds that his truck and himself have landed somewhere...else...
